Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has expressed optimism that the Spanish club will claim their first FIFA Club World Cup title under the competition’s new expanded format.
Speaking ahead of Madrid’s opening match against Al-Hilal on Wednesday, the Brazilian winger emphasized the team’s motivation to win the tournament, highlighting that it is the only trophy missing from Real Madrid’s collection.
> “We are eager to win this first Club World Cup because people never forget the first one,” Vinicius said, as quoted by Madrid Xtra. “It’s the only title Real Madrid doesn’t have. We are going for it.”
Real Madrid, placed in Group H, will also face Pachuca and RB Salzburg during the group stage of the tournament, which is being held in the United States.
