Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has gifted each pilgrim from the state the sum of ₦450,000 as a Sallah package. The announcement was made during his visit to the state’s contingent in Minna, following the successful completion of the 2025 Hajj.
The governor explained that the financial support was to assist the pilgrims as they prepare to return home. He praised their exemplary conduct, noting that none had violated Saudi Arabia’s laws throughout their stay.
“I’m deeply grateful for how well you’ve represented our state in the holy land. Your maturity and discipline throughout the Hajj rituals have made us proud,” Aliyu said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of Sokoto citizens, both at home and abroad.
Governor Aliyu also acknowledged the efforts of Alhaji Ummarun Kwabo, the State Amirul Hajj, for his leadership in ensuring the pilgrimage's success. He further commended the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency officials for their dedication and commitment.
The governor urged the pilgrims to continue praying for Nigeria, especially for divine help in overcoming insecurity and other national challenges.
“No matter how much effort we make, prayer remains our strongest tool in tackling the insecurity affecting our nation’s progress,” he emphasized.
