Former Kano State Governor and NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed heartfelt sympathy to victims of the recent fire outbreak at the Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Kwankwaso described the fire — reportedly caused by a battery explosion — as a tragic reminder of the risks posed by unregulated electrical and energy storage devices in crowded markets.
He said, “This is a painful incident. I extend my deep sympathy to all the affected traders.”
Noting the unfortunate timing of the disaster during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, Kwankwaso referred to it as “a test from Allah” and urged victims to remain prayerful and resilient.
He also called on the Kano State Government and market leaders to implement strict safety regulations, stressing that such incidents must be prevented in the future.
The fire, which broke out on Friday, destroyed property worth millions of naira and razed several shops in one of northern Nigeria’s busiest phone and electronics markets.
