Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a personal observation ahead of the UEFA Nations League final, saying Spain’s rising star, Lamine Yamal, reminds him a lot of his eldest son, Cristiano Junior.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash between Portugal and Spain at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Ronaldo praised the young Barcelona talent, saying both his son and Yamal share similar physical traits and even admire each other.
“My son and Lamine Yamal look a lot alike—their skin tone, their hairstyles. They’re just three years apart. I really like Yamal, and my son is also a big fan of his,” Ronaldo said, according to Madrid Zone.
Both players have been key contributors in their countries’ journey to the final, with Ronaldo helping Portugal past Germany and Yamal impressing in Spain’s victory over France.
Off the pitch, Ronaldo dominated in the Saudi Pro League last season, finishing as the top scorer, while Yamal lifted both the LaLiga and Copa del Rey titles with Barcelona.
All eyes will be on the two teams as they battle it out for the Nations League title on Sunday night.
