The Katsina State Police Command has uncovered a disturbing kidnapping scheme involving a 14-year-old girl who allegedly worked with three accomplices to abduct her four-year-old sister while also faking her own abduction to demand ₦50 million in ransom.
Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq revealed this during a media briefing on Wednesday, covering the Command’s activities for May. He said the incident was first reported on February 20, 2025, by a man named Alhaji Badamasi Bala, who reported the disappearance of both daughters from their home in Madaci Yan Nono Quarters, Katsina.
Following the report, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, launched an immediate investigation by the anti-kidnapping unit.
After nearly four months, the 14-year-old resurfaced and confessed to the scheme, admitting she had teamed up with three others—aged 25, 19, and 16—to carry out the abduction. All suspects were arrested, and the younger child was safely rescued.
Police recovered one live round of 7.62mm ammunition during the investigation. CP Shehu praised the officers’ swift actions and urged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities to support the fight against crime.
