Barau FC Players Receive ₦17.5 Million and Motorcycles After NPFL Promotion |
In a remarkable gesture of appreciation, Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has rewarded the players of Barau FC with ₦17.5 million and 35 brand-new motorcycles following their historic promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The senator, who represents Kano North Senatorial District and is the founder of the club, made the announcement during a grand reception in Kano, held in honour of the team’s players and management. The event also marked the official unveiling of Ladan Bosso as the club’s new head coach.
Historic Promotion for Barau FC
Barau FC secured their place in the NPFL for the first time in their history last month after a decisive 2-0 victory over Doma United in their final playoff match. This promotion is a milestone achievement for the team, which has quickly risen through the ranks — from academy football to the Nigeria National League (NNL) and now to the topflight of Nigerian football.
Each of the 35 players received a motorcycle and a ₦500,000 cash prize in recognition of their hard work and dedication.
“This is a victory for the Nigerian youth. From academy to NLO, from NLO to NNL, and now to the NPFL, the journey has been remarkable. Football today is more than a sport; it’s a source of livelihood,”

Ambitious Goals for the Future
Senator Barau also emphasized his commitment to taking the club to the international stage, envisioning opportunities for players to represent world-class clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid.
“Our new signings are some of the best in the Nigerian league, and we’ve already expanded our reach with international players. Our head coach is among the finest in African football,” he stated.
New Signings and Pre-Season Matches
Ahead of their debut NPFL season, Barau FC has signed 25 new players to strengthen the squad. They are set to face El-Kanemi Warriors in a pre-season friendly today, a key fixture as they prepare for their maiden campaign in Nigeria’s elite division.
Their opening NPFL match will be a high-profile clash against nine-time champions Enyimba International FC, scheduled to take place at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
