How to Stop MTN from Deducting Your Airtime/Credit in Nigeria |
Is MTN deducting your airtime without warning? Whether it’s from subscriptions you never signed up for or hidden services, you can stop MTN from deducting your credit by following these simple steps:
1. Unsubscribe from Unwanted MTN Services (VAS)
These include caller tunes, health tips, football updates, daily SMS tips, etc.
Option A: Use the Universal STOP Code
- Go to your SMS app
- Send STOP to 2442
- You’ll receive a list of active subscriptions
- Reply with the number of each service to unsubscribe
Free & works for all third-party services
2. Use USSD to Manage Subscriptions
Dial *305#
- View and manage all your current MTN subscriptions
- Select each and choose Deactivate
OR dial *123*5*1#
- Go to "Manage Value Added Services"
- Unsubscribe from anything you don’t recognize
3. Use MyMTN App (Recommended)
- Download the MyMTN App on Play Store
- Log in with your MTN number
- Tap “My Subscriptions”
- Select any unwanted services and click Unsubscribe
You can also check auto-renewal settings from here.
4. Cancel Data Auto-Renewal
If MTN is deducting airtime after data expiry, cancel auto-renewal.
Send:
- STOPDATA to 131
or
- Dial
*312#
, then:- Choose “Data Plans”
- Then choose “Manage Data” > “Cancel Auto-Renewal”
5. Contact MTN Customer Care (If Still Deducting)
If none of the above works:
- Dial 300 on your MTN line
- Speak to an MTN agent and say:
"Please stop all services and subscriptions on my line and disable any auto-renewal."
