What Is a PUK Code?
PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Key. It's an 8-digit code used to unblock your SIM card after entering the wrong PIN 3 times.
Entering the wrong PUK 10 times may permanently disable your SIM.
Method 1: Get PUK Code from SIM Pack
If you still have your original Airtel SIM pack:
- Look at the back of the card holder (where you removed the SIM from)
- Find the 8-digit PUK Code printed there
- Enter it when prompted by your phone to unlock your SIM
Done! Your SIM should now be active again.
Method 2: Call Airtel Customer Care (Using Another Line)
If you don’t have the SIM pack:
- Call 111 (Airtel support) from another Airtel line OR +2348021500111 from other networks
- Select the option for SIM support or speak to a customer care agent
- Provide the following:
- Your full name
- Phone number of the locked SIM
- Last 3 dialed numbers or last recharge amount/date (for verification)
- Once verified, they will SMS or tell you the PUK code
Method 3: Use Airtel Thanks App Chat
You can also retrieve your PUK through the Airtel Thanks app:
- Download the Airtel Thanks App from Google Play Store
- Log in with another Airtel number
- Use the chat feature to request PUK code for your locked number

- Set a simple 4-digit PIN you’ll remember
- Avoid sharing your SIM with others
- Don’t guess the PIN repeatedly—stop after 2 wrong attempts
