Zulum Engages Soldiers, Returnees in Malam-Fatori, Applauds Troops’ Bravery Against Terrorists

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Sunday paid a visit to Malam-Fatori, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area, where he interacted directly with soldiers and recently returned residents.

The visit aimed to boost the morale of the military and support efforts to restore normalcy and strengthen community resilience in the area.

Malam-Fatori, a border town on the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin, was displaced by terrorist activities nearly nine years ago.

During his stop at the 68 Battalion Headquarters, Governor Zulum met with commanding officers and troops, commending them for their bravery in defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and repelling recent attacks.

“On behalf of myself and the good people of Borno State, I commend the officers and men of the 68th Battalion. There was a terrorist attack here a few days ago, and you responded with courage and strength, delivering a crushing blow to the attackers. Once again, I salute your gallantry,” Zulum said.

While addressing returnees—many of whom had fled to neighboring Niger Republic—Zulum urged them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the security agencies.

“The government is working tirelessly to provide the necessary support for lasting peace in this community. Insha Allah, Malam-Fatori is here to stay. We will do everything within our power to ensure this town remains safe and standing,” he assured, pledging enhanced security and development efforts.

Governor Zulum was accompanied by key officials, including the Chairman of the Malam-Fatori Resettlement Committee, Engr. Bukar Talba; Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele; and the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Mustapha Ali Busuguma, among other senior government personnel.
