Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, describing him as a father figure and the key force behind his political rise.
Speaking on Friday during a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at the APC headquarters in Abuja, Ododo expressed deep gratitude to Bello for the role he played in shaping his journey.
"I was not born with a silver spoon," the governor said. "But God used Alhaji Yahaya Bello to elevate me. He is like a father to me, and I will never forget where I came from."
Using a powerful metaphor, he added: "Any river that forgets its source will soon dry up. I can never — and will never — betray him. He picked me from nowhere, and I remain eternally grateful."
Ododo also urged supporters and party members to step in with reconciliation efforts should any misunderstanding arise between him and the former governor.
"If you ever sense that my boss is displeased with me, please, I beg you — go and plead with him on my behalf. To me, he remains a leader, a mentor, and a father. I am not the kind of person to turn against those who helped me rise."
Governor Ododo's remarks underscore his deep sense of loyalty and the strong political bond between him and Yahaya Bello, a relationship that continues to shape the political landscape in Kogi State.
