Senator Olamilekan Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they prevented Nigeria from plunging into financial collapse. He also noted that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has broken nearly five decades of neglect and marginalisation experienced by the Yewa-Awori people in Ogun West Senatorial District.

Speaking at the 12th Synod of the Anglican Church, Diocese of Yewa, held at Rev. Fry Memorial Anglican Church, Ishaga Orile, Adeola reflected on his journey as a representative of the district. He said the intervention projects he initiated—alongside efforts by Governor Dapo Abiodun—are reversing Ogun West’s long history of socio-economic and infrastructural stagnation.

Senator Adeola likened his political journey to the biblical account in 2 Chronicles 20:15–25, describing how God had fought for him and the people of Yewaland, delivering them from a long-standing siege of underdevelopment.

He stated, “Our empowerment programmes resemble the blessings the Israelites gathered after God delivered them from their enemies.”

Adeola highlighted President Tinubu’s reforms—including fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, student loans, consumer credit initiatives, infrastructure projects, and a new minimum wage—as bold steps that have stabilized the economy and set Nigeria on a path toward sustainable growth.

He called on religious leaders to continue praying for national peace and security, especially for those combating insurgency, kidnapping, and other crimes.

The senator also commended Governor Abiodun’s administration for its developmental strides in education, health, housing, and especially road construction. He cited completed and ongoing projects like the Ilashe-Koko-Alari Road, Ilaro-Owode Road, and rehabilitation of facilities at the State Hospital in Ilaro.

He said visible progress could be seen in the building of roads, schools, healthcare and ICT centres, modern markets, and police stations, as well as in electrification projects.

Bishop Michael Oluwarohunbi of Yewa Diocese affirmed that Senator Adeola’s efforts had indeed lifted the region from prolonged underdevelopment, describing his rise in Ogun politics as a divine answer to the prayers of the people.
