Thousands of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran on Friday to protest against Israel, following weekly prayers, in a nationwide show of solidarity and resistance, according to footage aired on state television.
“This is the Friday of the Iranian nation’s solidarity and resistance across the country,” a state TV anchor declared, as images showed crowds chanting pro-government slogans and voicing support for Iran’s leadership.
Protesters in the capital held up portraits of Iranian military commanders killed since the outbreak of hostilities with Israel. Many also waved the national flag and that of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon.
One protester carried a banner that read, “I will sacrifice my life for my leader,” in reference to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
State media also reported similar demonstrations in several other cities, including Tabriz in the northwest and Shiraz in the south, reflecting widespread support for the government’s stance amid ongoing regional tensions.
