Killers of Kaduna Indigenes in Plateau Must Face Justice — Governor Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has fiercely condemned the brutal killing of twelve Kaduna indigenes in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, calling on security agencies to act swiftly in arresting and prosecuting those responsible.
The victims, who were on their way to a wedding in Quan Pan LGA of Plateau State, were ambushed and murdered in the troubled Mangun District. Eleven others were left injured, some critically.
In a statement released on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Governor Sani denounced the attack as “an act of savagery” and insisted that justice must be served without delay.
“We strongly condemn this barbaric act. The criminals behind it must be tracked down and brought to justice. Security agencies must leave no stone unturned in hunting down the perpetrators,” he declared.
Governor Sani also urged his Plateau State counterpart, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, to take firm and decisive action to restore peace and direct security forces to apprehend those responsible.
“This is the moment for Governor Mutfwang to take full control and lead the security operations until those behind this atrocity are found and prosecuted. I will personally monitor the progress of the investigation,” Sani pledged.
While appealing for calm among the people of Kaduna, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, citing the Kaduna Peace Model as a successful example of conflict resolution through political will.
“The crisis in Plateau is not beyond resolution. There is absolutely no justification for attacking any Nigerian citizen anywhere in the country. Enough is enough,” he emphasized.
Governor Sani extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of the government’s full support, including medical care for the injured and a firm pursuit of justice.
“We will do everything within our power to ease the pain of the grieving families. May the souls of our departed brothers and sisters rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
