Kano Athletes Deserve More – Shehu Sani Criticizes State Government's Compensation |
Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has condemned the Kano State Government for what he termed a meagre compensation of ₦1 million given to each family of the athletes who tragically died while serving the state.
The government had announced the ₦1 million donation to each of the 22 bereaved families after the athletes lost their lives in a road accident while returning from the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Reacting via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sani argued that the amount was inadequate and did not reflect the sacrifice of the athletes, who died in active service to the state.
"One million for each of the deceased athletes is not enough. Kano is rich enough to do more than that. The deceased died in active service,” he stated.
