Iran Says It’s Taking Steps to Sustain Nuclear Programme After US and Israeli Strikes |
Iran announced on Tuesday that it has taken “the necessary measures” to keep its nuclear programme running, following recent strikes by the United States and Israel targeting several key facilities.
“We have assessed the damage and taken appropriate actions,” said Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, in a statement broadcast on state television.
“Plans to restart the affected facilities were prepared in advance. Our strategy is to maintain uninterrupted production and services,” he added.
The U.S. launched strikes on Sunday targeting the Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz uranium enrichment sites.
President Donald Trump described the strikes as a “spectacular military success,” though the full extent of the damage remains unclear.
Meanwhile, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that Iran still holds stocks of enriched uranium, emphasizing that “the game is not over.”
On Monday, Israel confirmed it had launched a second strike on the Fordo facility, which is located beneath a mountain south of Tehran, claiming it aimed to “block access routes.”
