Governor Alia Condemns Killing of Kano Travellers, Orders Swift Arrest of Suspects

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of two Kano State indigenes by suspected youths in the Agan community, located in Makurdi.
According to security sources, the victims, who were transporting goods to the eastern part of the country, had parked their truck around 11 p.m. on Monday to purchase a recharge card when they were suddenly attacked and killed.
“They had stopped in Agan to get a recharge card when some youths descended on them,” the source revealed.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, Governor Alia described the incident as “barbaric and unacceptable” and directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute all those involved without delay.
“Five suspects have already been apprehended by the police in Makurdi following the governor’s order,” the statement confirmed.
Governor Alia expressed deep sorrow over the killings, stressing that Benue people are known for their peaceful and hospitable nature.
“We will not allow a few criminal elements to destroy the good reputation of our state. These perpetrators must be brought to justice,” he declared.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to his Kano State counterpart, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and assured the government and people of Kano that justice would prevail.
“We stand with the people of Kano at this difficult time and remain committed to ensuring that those responsible are held fully accountable,” Alia added.
