Fenerbahçe Join Race to Sign Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare After Breakout Season

Turkish football giants Fenerbahçe have entered the race to sign Tolu Arokodare, the Nigerian striker currently making waves in Belgium with Genk, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The 24-year-old forward enjoyed a sensational 2024/25 season, finishing as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer with 21 goals and six assists in 40 league games. Across all competitions, he tallied 23 goals and seven assists, a performance that earned him a spot in the Pro League Team of the Season and the prestigious Ebony Shoe Award, given to the best African player in Belgium’s top flight.

Transfer insider Eternal confirmed via social media that Fenerbahçe have added Arokodare to their summer transfer shortlist. His contract with Genk runs until 2027, and the club reportedly values him at around €18 million, a sharp rise from the €5 million Genk paid to sign him from French club Amiens in January 2023.

Fenerbahçe’s interest in Arokodare comes as part of a wider recruitment push, with the Turkish side also linked to a high-profile move for Sadio Mané, currently with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

While clubs across Europe are monitoring Arokodare—including Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich—the striker remains focused but open about his ambitions. Speaking to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, he expressed his dream of playing in the Premier League or Bundesliga.

“The future isn’t written yet,” Arokodare said. “It would be a dream to play in the Premier League. If that opportunity comes, I want to be ready. You never know how many chances you’ll get.”

Commenting on rumours that Bayern may see him as a potential back-up for Harry Kane, he smiled: “Being a stand-in for Harry Kane? That would be nice, wouldn’t it? But it’s just speculation—there’s been no contact.”

The Nigerian striker further cemented his growing international reputation by scoring his first senior goal for the Super Eagles in a friendly against Russia earlier this year.
