Exam Malpractice: Ondo Police Arrest WAEC Candidate’s Mother, Four Others Over Attack on Vice Principal

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Doracas Asije, mother of a WASSCE candidate, along with four accomplices, for allegedly orchestrating an attack on Mr. Rotifa, Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College in Akure North LGA.

According to police reports, the incident stemmed from a dispute during an exam after Mr. Rotifa confiscated a mobile phone from Asije’s son, who was suspected of engaging in examination malpractice. In retaliation, Mrs. Asije allegedly hired thugs who later assaulted the vice principal on school premises.

Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed that the suspects were swiftly apprehended by a tactical unit led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, on the orders of Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi.

> “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and will be charged to court after investigation,” Ayanlade said.

The attack has drawn public outrage, with many condemning the rise in violence linked to exam malpractice.

Government Reacts

The Ondo State Ministry of Education also condemned the act, stating a zero-tolerance policy for exam malpractice and school-related violence. According to Mr. Akindele Ige, via a statement issued by Director Olaoluwa Meshack, all those found guilty—students, parents, or accomplices—will face full legal consequences.
