| APC Welcomes Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno After Defection |
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State into its fold, following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Eno formally announced his switch to the ruling party during a ceremony held on Friday at the Government House in Uyo, the state capital.
In a statement released by Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) expressed enthusiasm over the governor’s decision, calling it a major boost for both the APC and the people of Akwa Ibom.
“The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress is delighted at the news of Governor Umo Eno’s decision to join our great party,” the statement read.
The APC believes Eno’s defection will foster the state’s progress and align with the broader developmental agenda of the APC-led federal government.
“We are confident that his thoughtful decision will contribute to the greater progress of Akwa Ibom State and its people,” the party added.
The ruling party also pledged full support and cooperation to Governor Eno as he integrates into the APC. It reaffirmed its commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at driving national development and prosperity.
As part of this new political chapter, the APC assured the people of Akwa Ibom of its dedication to ensuring a smooth transition and delivering the dividends of democracy in collaboration with the governor.
