A traditional ruler in Nasarawa State, Mr. Emmanuel Omanji, the Sangarin Dari of Kokona Local Government Area, has been abducted by gunmen following a brazen late-night assault on his palace.
The attackers, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the monarch’s residence on Wednesday night, unleashing a barrage of gunfire before seizing the royal figure and fleeing to an undisclosed location.
Confirming the incident, the Nasarawa State Police Command said it has launched a full-scale operation to rescue the abducted ruler. Police spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has deployed a tactical team comprising anti-kidnapping operatives, military personnel, and local vigilante groups to comb the area and track down the criminals.
Authorities are appealing to the public for credible information that could assist in the ongoing rescue efforts, assuring that all tips will be treated with confidentiality.
