Edo Guber: Wike Hails Okpebholo’s Appeal Court Victory, Urges Focus on Governance |
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has extended his congratulations to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State following the Appeal Court’s decision upholding his election victory in the September 2024 gubernatorial race.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike commended the court's ruling as a strong validation of the will of Edo voters, describing it as “a reaffirmation of the people’s genuine mandate.”
The former Rivers State governor encouraged Okpebholo to stay focused on delivering good governance and advancing the interests of Edo citizens. “Governor Okpebholo has shown dedication since assuming office,” Wike noted. “I have observed his performance, and I’m confident that his administration will leave a lasting, positive impact on the state.”
He also appealed to the opposition candidate, Asuerime Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to accept the court’s judgment in good faith and move on. “The election is over, and it’s time to let sleeping dogs lie,” Wike added.
