JUST IN: Saudi Arabia Declares June 6, 2025 as Eid-el-Adha

Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eid-el-Adha (Sallah) will be observed on Friday, June 6, 2025, following the sighting of the crescent moon that marks the beginning of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

According to the update shared by Haramain Sharifain via X (formerly Twitter), Dhul Hijjah 1446 will begin on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The statement outlines the following key dates:

Start of Dhul Hijjah: Wednesday, May 28, 2025
Day of Arafah: Thursday, June 5, 2025
Eid-el-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice): Friday, June 6, 2025

The Day of Arafah, which falls on June 5, is a pivotal moment during the Hajj pilgrimage, where pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat in deep prayer and reflection.

Eid-el-Adha, observed the following day, commemorates the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was prepared to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. It is marked by prayers, charitable acts, and the ritual sacrifice of animals by Muslims across the world.

Haramain Sharifain also quoted the traditional chant of pilgrims in ihram:
“Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la sharika laka Labbayk. Innal Hamda, Wannimata, Laka Wal-Mulk, La Sharika Lak.”

(“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Truly, all praise, blessings, and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner.”)

The early announcement offers ample time for Muslims worldwide to prepare spiritually and logistically for this important period, including participation in Hajj, attending Eid prayers, and engaging in acts of devotion and charity.

Last year, Eid-el-Adha was observed on June 16, 2024.
