Eid-el-Kabir Set for June 6 as Dhul Hijjah Moon is Sighted

The crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah has been sighted, confirming that Eid-el-Kabir will be observed on Thursday, June 6.

The announcement came from the Supreme Court, as reported by Arab News. Muslims who are not embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage this year will join in the festivities on that date.

In anticipation of the moon sighting, the Supreme Court had earlier called on citizens to observe the skies on the 29th of Dhu Al-Qa’dah and promptly report any sightings to the nearest court.

In celebration of the holy festival, the Kingdom has declared a weeklong holiday for employees in both the public and private sectors.
