CAF Player of the Year Ademola Lookman Honours President Tinubu with Award Presentation in Lagos |
Nigerian football star Ademola Lookman on Friday presented his 2023 CAF Player of the Year award to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the President’s visit to Lagos.
Lookman, who received a warm welcome from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, met with President Tinubu at the Lagos State Government House as part of the President’s two-day working visit to the state.
The 27-year-old forward clinched the prestigious African Player of the Year title at a glittering ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, in December 2023. He took over the title from fellow Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who won the award in the previous year.
Lookman earned the honour following a stellar performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, where he scored three goals and provided one assist for the Super Eagles, helping Nigeria reach the final of the tournament.
His influence extended to club football as well, where he starred for Italian side Atalanta. Lookman delivered a historic performance in the UEFA Europa League final, scoring a sensational hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen to secure the trophy for his club.
The award presentation to President Tinubu highlights a proud moment for Nigerian football, as Lookman’s achievements continue to inspire young athletes across the country.
