Investigations revealed that commercial motorcycle riders, Kekenapep riders, and commercial vehicle drivers have increased their fares by 100%, exacerbating the economic pain. A quarter gallon of fuel now sells for N2,100 at some filling stations in Gusau, the state capital. The prices of food items have also skyrocketed, with a plate of local rice now costing N3,900, up from N1,550. Meat sellers at the Tudunwada market are struggling to sell meat at N400, blaming the high cost of transportation.

"The meat we used to buy at N30,000 now costs N65,000 due to the fuel hike," said Amodu Mustapha, a meat seller. Traders at the Gusau Central market lamented low patronage, citing buyers' financial hardships. The fuel scarcity has brought economic activities to a grinding halt, leaving residents in dire straits. Urgent action is needed to address this crisis and restore economic stability in Zamfara State.
