In a stunning turn of events, an 85-year-old traditional ruler from Benin Republic, Yusuf Lawal Muse, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for attempting to kill his own son for ritual purposes. The octogenarian, who is married to six women and has 21 children, confessed to plotting to kill his son Musa, whom he accused of being stubborn and threatening to take his life.

Muse revealed that he had contracted a group of ritualists, led by Ademola Akinlosotu, son of a pastor, to kill his son and use his body parts for herbal purposes. However, the plan was foiled when an idol priest, who was supposed to be part of the ritual, leaked the information to the son's mother, and she fled with the son to another town.

The traditional ruler, who expressed regret for his actions, stated that he was worried about being dethroned by his people in Benin Republic, who have heard about the incident.

The leader of the ritualist gang, Ademola Akinlosotu, confessed to killing two victims since November last year and supplying their body parts to the traditional ruler and other buyers. He revealed that they had graduated from supplying dried body parts from cemeteries to supplying fresh body parts of newly murdered victims.

The suspects, including the traditional ruler, Akinlosotu, and eight others, were arrested by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Special Squad Team 3, led by DSP Toyin Omosebi.

This shocking case highlights the dark world of ritual killings and the desperation of some individuals for power and wealth. It also raises questions about the role of traditional rulers and religious leaders in perpetuating these harmful practices.
