Tinubu Administration Approves Significant Salary Increase for Public Servants

According to a statement by the Head of Press, National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Emmanuel Njoku, the salary increments will take effect from January 1, 2024.

In a move aimed at enhancing the welfare of public servants, the Tinubu administration has announced a substantial salary increase of between 25% and 35% for civil servants across six consolidated salary structures. This development comes after workers in the tertiary education and health sectors had already received salary increments earlier.

The six salary structures that will benefit from this approval are:

- Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS)

- Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS)

- Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS)

- Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS)

- Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS)

- Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS)

Similarly, the tertiary education sector will benefit from the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) for universities, while polytechnics and colleges of education will benefit from the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS). The health sector will also benefit from the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).

According to a statement by the Head of Press, National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Emmanuel Njoku, the salary increments will take effect from January 1, 2024. Additionally, pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme for the six consolidated salary structures will receive increments of between 20% and 28%, also effective from January 1, 2024.

This development is a significant step towards recognizing the dedication and hard work of public servants and ensuring their welfare.
