In a recent interview with Toyin Ibitoye, former Super Eagles media officer, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau revealed that appointing Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles was not a straightforward decision. Finidi, 53, was announced as the successor to Jose Peseiro on Friday, edging out his former teammate Emmanuel Amuneke for the top job.
Gusau acknowledged the challenges of the selection process, stating, "It wasn't an easy decision." However, he emphasized the need to have faith in homegrown talent, saying, "We've got to begin to trust our own." The NFF President assured Finidi of the federation's full support and respect as he embarks on his new role.
