WAEC 2025: Federal Government Confirms Updated Results Will Be Available Within 24 Hours

The Federal Ministry of Education has confirmed that updated results for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be available within the next 24 hours on the official WAEC result checker portal.

This announcement comes after the prompt resolution of a technical glitch that affected the initial release of the results for some candidates across Nigeria.

What Caused the WAEC 2025 Result Issue?

According to a press release issued on Thursday by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the glitch originated from complications during the post-release processing of results — particularly in subjects that incorporated a new paper serialisation system.

This security feature was recently introduced by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) as part of its upgraded efforts to combat examination malpractice and protect exam integrity.

Swift Response from WAEC Commended by FG

The Ministry of Education acknowledged WAEC’s professionalism, transparency, and quick response to the issue. It also confirmed that the matter was resolved following a full briefing to the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa.

“The Ministry commends WAEC for its swift response and reassures all candidates that fairness, accuracy, and credibility remain our top priorities in public assessments,” the statement read.

Affected candidates are encouraged to recheck their WAEC 2025 results after the 24-hour update window via www.waecdirect.org.

CBT Exams Coming in 2026 – Ministry Confirms

As part of broader reforms under the current administration’s education transformation agenda, the Ministry revealed a new milestone: WAEC and NECO will begin the phased rollout of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) in national exams starting November 2026.

Initially, the CBT system will be applied to objective questions, with future plans to extend to theory-based components.

According to the Ministry:

“The adoption of CBT is a vital move to eliminate exam malpractice, prevent question leaks, and enhance transparency in our national exam system.”

Speaking on the issue, Minister Alausa stressed that maintaining examination integrity is not a choice but a national obligation.
