Tragic Road Accident in Katsina Claims Lives of Couple and Three Others

A fatal road accident in Katsina State has claimed the lives of five people, including a recently married couple, in a heartbreaking incident that has left the local community in mourning.

The victims, Abdulsalami Yusuf Kankara, 37, and his wife, Malama Zainab, were returning from Kurfi Local Government Area after visiting friends to commiserate over a miscarriage. According to eyewitness accounts, the crash occurred when a motorcycle carrying three passengers collided head-on with their vehicle.

How the Accident Happened

Speaking to Daily Trust, Abdulsalami’s brother, Aminu Yusuf Kankara, explained that:

“Those on the motorcycle and Abdulsalami’s wife died instantly. Abdulsalami later died at the hospital.”

Witnesses confirmed that the motorcycle rider, carrying two passengers, veered into the path of the car, causing a violent impact that killed all three motorcyclists and one passenger in the car on the spot.

The other three passengers in the car were rushed to the hospital, where Abdulsalami later succumbed to his injuries despite emergency medical efforts.

Community Mourns the Victims

The sudden deaths have deeply shaken residents of Katsina. Friends and family described Abdulsalami as a “kind, humble, and generous man” who had only recently married Malama Zainab. The tragedy comes just months after their wedding, adding to the heartbreak felt by relatives and well-wishers.
