The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has revealed that its intensified air operations in the North-East have resulted in the elimination of no fewer than 592 terrorists and the destruction of 372 enemy assets within the last eight months.
According to Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), these achievements were recorded through a series of strategic airstrikes aimed at degrading insurgent capabilities and restoring security in affected areas. The CAS made this disclosure in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday, during a courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum.
In a statement issued by the NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai successfully executed 798 combat sorties within the period under review. These missions led to the destruction of 206 terrorists’ vehicles and 166 logistics hubs, significantly disrupting insurgent supply chains and mobility.
Advanced Capabilities and Night-Strike Precision
Air Marshal Abubakar noted that recent operational successes were boosted by an upgraded fleet and precision night-strike capabilities, enabling NAF aircraft to conduct high-impact missions deep within hostile territories. He stated:
“With enhanced air power, we have clocked over 1,500 operational flight hours, executing missions that cripple terrorist movements and logistics. This includes the neutralization of hundreds of fighters and the elimination of critical infrastructure used by insurgents.”

Borno Governor Commends NAF’s Efforts
In his remarks, Governor Zulum praised the Nigerian Air Force for its sustained air support in degrading terrorist capabilities and protecting vulnerable communities. He emphasized that these ongoing airstrikes have been pivotal in complementing ground operations carried out by the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
The governor expressed optimism that the continued collaboration between air and ground forces will accelerate the restoration of peace across the North-East, particularly in Borno State, which has been at the epicenter of insurgency for over a decade.
