The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has officially suspended all academic activities following a violent incident that began with a hostel raid and escalated into a student protest.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday by the institution’s Registrar, Kasimu Salihu, the crisis started when unidentified hoodlums invaded the male students’ hostel, carting away personal belongings and leaving at least two students injured.

In response to the attack, students gathered at the main gate of the polytechnic to demand immediate action from the school’s management. While the protest began peacefully, it was later hijacked by external troublemakers who, according to the registrar, “do not mean the students and the institution well.”
Salihu explained:
“Upon this sad development, students came out to express their justifiable frustration, calling on management to act. While management acted immediately, with all principal officers and staff showing up to address the situation, hoodlums took over what was meant to be a peaceful protest.”

Given the escalating tension and threat to security, the management decided to shut down all academic activities with immediate effect.
The statement directed that:
“Students are given two hours within which to vacate the polytechnic campus, until further notice.”
