Easily Transfer MTN Credit to Friends and Family

If you’ve ever wanted to send part of your MTN airtime (card) to someone else, MTN has a simple and secure way to do it. Whether it’s for friends, family, or emergencies, this guide will show you how to share airtime (card) on MTN Nigeria in 2025.

What Is MTN Share?

MTN Share (formerly MTN Share ‘N’ Sell) is a service that allows you to transfer airtime from your MTN line to another MTN number using a short code or SMS.

You can transfer:

  • Between ₦50 and ₦5,000 per transaction
  • Up to ₦50,000 daily
  • Only to MTN-to-MTN lines

Step 1: Change Your Default Transfer PIN

Before your first transfer, you must change the default PIN (which is 0000) to your unique 4-digit PIN.

To change your PIN:

Dial:

*600*defaultPIN*newPIN*newPIN#

Example:

*600*0000*1234*1234#

You’ll get a confirmation message once your PIN is successfully changed.

Step 2: How to Share Card (Airtime) on MTN

There are two methods to transfer airtime:

Method 1: Using USSD Code

Dial:

*600*RecipientNumber*Amount*PIN#

Example:

*600*08031234567*500*1234#

This will send ₦500 to the MTN number 08031234567 using your 4-digit PIN.

Method 2: Using SMS

Send SMS to 600 in this format:

Transfer RecipientNumber Amount PIN

Example:

Transfer 08031234567 500 1234

Send it to 600. You’ll get a confirmation message.

Important Notes

  • You cannot transfer bonus airtime, only main account credit.
  • You can only transfer airtime to another MTN line.
  • If your balance is less than the amount you want to send, the transaction will fail.
  • You can make multiple transfers daily, but not exceeding ₦50,000.

How to Deactivate MTN Share

There’s no need to deactivate—it’s a built-in service. But you can change your PIN anytime for security using:

*600*OldPIN*NewPIN*NewPIN#

Forgot Your Transfer PIN?
