Woman Misses Fatal Air India Flight by 10 Minutes Due to Traffic |
A woman narrowly avoided a tragic fate after missing an Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad, killing 241 people. Bhoomi Chauhan, who was supposed to board the ill-fated AI-171 flight to London, was delayed by heavy traffic and arrived at the airport just 10 minutes late.
According to reports from Mail Online and PUNCH, Chauhan was on her way to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat when the traffic jam caused her to miss boarding. Her delay ultimately spared her life, as the plane went down shortly after takeoff, leaving only one survivor among 242 passengers, which included 53 British nationals.
Chauhan, who lives in Ahmedabad, told local media that she felt her legs trembling and was deeply shaken upon hearing about the crash. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner had crashed in the densely populated Meghani area just minutes after departure around 1:40 p.m. local time (8:10 a.m. BST).
Surveillance footage captured the terrifying final moments of the flight, showing the aircraft descending rapidly with its landing gear out and nose tilted upwards before impact.
Chauhan, who had been on holiday in India while her husband remained in London, said her “mind went numb” when she realised the gravity of what she narrowly escaped.
