The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has confirmed that all 484 Nigerian pilgrims staying at the Imaratus Sanan Hotel on Shari Mansur Street in Makkah are safe following a fire outbreak on Saturday around 12 p.m. Saudi time.

The pilgrims, who were clients of six Nigerian private tour companies, were quickly evacuated, with no casualties reported. All affected individuals have since been relocated to accommodations in Mina.

In a statement issued by Fatima Usara, Assistant Director of Information and Publications for NAHCON, she praised the rapid response by Saudi emergency services and hotel staff, which prevented the fire from spreading and causing further damage.

NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Usman, alongside key officials including Commissioner Alhaji Aliu Abdulrazak and Makkah Coordinator Director Alidu Shutti, visited the hotel to assess the situation and ensure the pilgrims’ wellbeing.

During the visit, Professor Usman expressed sympathy and ordered immediate resettlement of the affected pilgrims. He reassured them of the Commission’s support and thanked Almighty Allah for sparing lives during the incident.

Inspections of the new lodging facility have been completed, and plans for resettlement are underway. NAHCON also commended Saudi emergency teams and hotel management for their efficient response. Additional updates will be provided as necessary.
