INEC to Deploy BVAS for Voter Accreditation in Ekiti Governorship Election |
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the notice for the Ekiti State Governorship Election, scheduled to hold on June 20, 2026, confirming that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for voter accreditation.
While INEC had earlier announced the dates for the Ekiti and Osun State governorship polls last month, the publication of Wednesday’s notice complies with Section 28(1) & (2) of the Electoral Act 2022, as amended.
According to the notice, voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. across all 2,445 polling units in the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ekiti State.
The Commission stressed that only individuals whose names appear on the official register of voters and who possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be allowed to cast their votes.
“Voters are permitted to vote only at the polling units where they are registered. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for accrediting voters,” INEC stated, reaffirming the principle: no PVC, no voting.
