President Bola Tinubu has pledged to bring peace and justice to Benue State following a tragic attack that claimed the lives of over 200 people.
During his visit to the state, Tinubu met with stakeholders and vowed to work closely with Governor Fr. Hyacinth Alia to restore peace and stability. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with political and traditional leaders to resolve the long-standing clashes between herders and farmers.
In a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the President expressed deep sorrow over the destruction he witnessed. “I was in Benue today. The scale of destruction and loss is heartbreaking. To the good people of Benue, I see your pain. I feel it with you. And I assure you, we will not leave you behind. We will restore peace, rebuild, and bring justice. You are not alone,” Tinubu said.
He also remarked that with proper cooperation among stakeholders, Governor Alia has the potential to transform the state’s tragedies into economic growth.
However, the President’s visit has sparked mixed reactions. While some applauded his timely show of concern, others dismissed it as a calculated move by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for political gain.
