Gunmen Abduct 12-Year-Old Girl from Fulani Camp in Kwara, Police Launch Manhunt |
Four armed men have reportedly stormed Aiyetoro Fulani Camp in Kwara State and abducted a 12-year-old girl, identified as Hassana Abdullahi, the daughter of Mr. Abdullahi Jowuro.
The attackers, operating under the cover of night, invaded the camp and whisked the young girl away, sparking fear and concern among residents.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara State, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident. She announced that joint tactical teams—comprising police officers, vigilantes, and local hunters—had been deployed to the area to comb surrounding bushes and conduct search-and-rescue operations.
The statement read:
"At about 03:00 hours, four armed men invaded Aiyetoro Fulani Camp and abducted 12-year-old Hassana Abdullahi, daughter of Mr. Abdullahi Jowuro. The scene has been secured and documented.
“In response, joint tactical teams made up of police operatives, vigilantes, and local hunters have been deployed to carry out bush combing and rescue operations.”
SP Ejire-Adeyemi reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to public safety and urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity without delay.
Meanwhile, SaharaReporters had earlier reported that gunmen—believed to be bandits—killed a businessman and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Kpotun, along with his son, in Lile village, Patigi Local Government Area, during a failed kidnapping attempt.
A local source who spoke to SaharaReporters on Wednesday revealed that the gunmen struck on Tuesday night, storming Kpotun’s residence and killing both him and his son.
According to the source, the attackers didn’t stop at Kpotun’s home.
“It wasn’t only his family that was targeted last night,” the source said. “The bandits attacked another household as well and killed someone there too.”
