Another Bomb Blast Claims Four Lives, Injures 10 in Borno |
Four travellers lost their lives and 10 others sustained injuries on Wednesday following a bomb explosion in Komala village along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road in Borno State.
The explosion, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., involved a Suzuki pick-up truck that struck an improvised explosive device (IED).
Confirming the incident to PUNCH Online, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, said the injured victims had been taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.
“I can confirm that the incident occurred. Four people were killed, and 10 others suffered varying degrees of injuries. They have all been taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri,” he stated.
According to travellers, the blast caused heavy traffic, leading to hours of delay.
“We encountered a serious gridlock before we could get through,” a passenger told PUNCH.
This latest attack comes less than two months after a similar IED explosion along the same route claimed eight lives and injured 11 others.
Following the April 12 incident, police reported that a Hummer bus with registration number Jigawa MMR144 ran over an IED planted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at Komala village in Konduga LGA.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the repeated use of deadly IEDs along the busy Maiduguri–Damboa corridor.
