Liverpool FC have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of dynamic Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong from German champions Bayer Leverkusen.

The 24-year-old completed his transfer to Anfield on Friday after undergoing a successful medical and putting pen to paper on a long-term deal at the AXA Training Centre.

Frimpong, known for his blistering pace and high energy, couldn't hide his excitement about joining the Reds. Speaking to the club’s media, he said:

“As soon as Liverpool showed interest, there was no hesitation. I told my agents, ‘Do whatever it takes—make this happen.’

To the fans, I promise to give everything—my energy, my work-rate. I'm here to fight for this club, to win, to celebrate with you. I’m truly honored to be part of this team.”

The Netherlands international arrives on Merseyside after an outstanding spell with Bayer Leverkusen, where he played a key role in the club’s record-breaking 2023–24 campaign. Frimpong helped guide Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title, the DFB-Pokal, and an incredible 51-game unbeaten run in domestic competitions.

Over his four-and-a-half seasons in Germany, Frimpong racked up 190 appearances, scoring 30 goals and delivering 44 assists. His performances earned him back-to-back selections in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for 2022–23 and 2023–24.

Born in Amsterdam, Frimpong began his professional journey at Manchester City’s academy before joining Celtic in 2019, where he won three trophies in just 18 months. He then moved to Leverkusen in early 2021 and quickly developed into one of Europe’s most exciting attacking defenders.

On the international scene, Frimpong made his debut for the Dutch national team in October 2023 and has since earned 12 caps, scoring once.

The flying full-back also expressed his eagerness to work under Liverpool’s new head coach, Arne Slot.

“I’ve spoken to the manager a few times and the conversations have been very positive. He believes in my abilities, my pace, my energy—and that gives me confidence.

Even during international duty, the Feyenoord lads spoke so highly of him. They called him the best coach they’ve ever worked with. Hearing that only made me more excited.”

Frimpong’s squad number will be confirmed ahead of the new season.
