Euro 2024: Cristiano Ronaldo Congratulates Turkish Defender

Turkish defender Merih Demiral has shared that Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo congratulated him after he scored twice against Austria.

Demiral netted a brace on July 2 during Euro 2024, helping Turkey secure a 2-1 victory over Austria.

Ronaldo and Demiral were teammates at Juventus, playing together 25 times from 2019 to 2021.

The defender's performance helped Turkey advance to the quarterfinals, where they will compete alongside Ronaldo’s Portugal.

Speaking to Turkish publication Fanatik, Demiral said, “Ronaldo called me and congratulated me on the victory and the goals.

“My dream is to become the champion of Europe, and with the win over Austria, that dream is becoming a possible reality.”
