Dr. Kabo was on sabbatical leave at Taraba State University Jalingo at the time of his death. His demise has been described as a great loss to the university and Nigerian education as a whole.


The academic community is mourning the loss of Dr. Sarinu Ettor Kabo, a 46-year-old associate professor from the Faculty of Law at Prince Audu Abubakar University, Kogi State. He was brutally killed by bandits on April 22, 2024, while returning to Kogi State from Taraba in Benue State. The tragic incident occurred on the Makurdi-Naka Road, between Adaka and Kula communities in Benue State.


Dr. Kabo was on sabbatical leave at Taraba State University Jalingo at the time of his death. His demise has been described as a great loss to the university and Nigerian education as a whole. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, expressed her condolences and condemned the insecurity challenges in Nigeria, stating, "What has happened to Kabo today is the tragedy of a nation called Nigeria."


Colleagues and the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Kogi State chapter remembered Dr. Kabo as a good man whose demise has left a significant vacuum. His burial will take place today, Saturday, at Gboloko Bassa in the Dekina local government of Kogi State. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire and educate future generations.
