The Naira has seen a significant depreciation of N160 against the Dollar over a span of seven days.

FMDQ figures also indicated that the Naira ended at N1466.31 to the dollar on Friday, down from N1400.40 the previous Friday.


Continuing its downward trend against the US dollar, the Naira shed a notable N160 in the past week in the foreign exchange market.


Mistila Dayyabu, who operates a Bureau De Change in Wuse Zone 4, informed DAILY POST that on Friday, the Naira exchanged hands at N1450 per Dollar, a drop from N1,290 on the same day the previous week.


The Naira experienced a substantial weekly loss of N160 in the parallel market.


FMDQ figures also indicated that the Naira ended at N1466.31 to the dollar on Friday, down from N1400.40 the previous Friday.


This translates to a weekly depreciation of N65.91 or 4.5 percent for the Naira against the dollar.


This trend occurred even though the daily dollar turnover reached $113 million on Friday, up from $84.38 million the day before.


Despite a period of decline, Nigeria’s foreign reserves climbed to $32.369 billion as of May 6, 2024.
