Sanusi praised the Fubara administration's efforts to forge a new trajectory for growth and prosperity.
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano, acknowledges that he has encountered his share of controversies.
He shared this during the Rivers Economic and Investment Summit currently taking place in Port Harcourt.
As the keynote speaker, Sanusi mentioned that despite a packed schedule, he made it a point to attend, showing respect for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the people of Rivers State.
“Upon receiving the invitation from His Excellency to serve as the keynote speaker at the inaugural Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit, my diary was brimming with commitments, both within Nigeria and abroad.”
“There was also some hesitation about speaking at such a public forum. Often, it's not about the content of our speech or the validity of the economic solutions we propose. Misinterpretations and sensationalism can overshadow the intent of the speech, leading to controversy rather than clarity. It's well-known that I've encountered my share of controversies.
Such misrepresentations can turn a cause into a controversy instead of a solution. Nonetheless, honour begets honour, and I view His Excellency's invitation as a profound honour, which is why I am present. Honouring Rivers State also means honouring one of my dearest friends, Herbert Wigwe.”

He pointed out that while Rivers is an oil-rich state, natural resources alone are insufficient for transformative development; it requires visionary leadership.
This summit marks Sanusi's first public engagement since the announcement of his potential reinstatement as Emir.
The Daily Trust reported that the Kano Assembly has annulled the law used by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to dethrone Sanusi in 2020.
