First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has praised Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh for being the first female Nigerian to graduate from the Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom.
During her reception of Owowoh in her office, the first lady expressed that as a woman who has distinguished herself in a male-dominated sector, her determination and resilience are quite extraordinary, and she serves as an inspiration to young people.
Senator Tinubu, acknowledging the exceptional achievements of the 24-year-old Owowoh, mentioned that the officer is an excellent example of the remarkable accomplishments Nigerian youth are capable of.
She extended her gratitude to the Nigerian Army for providing 2nd Lt Owowoh with the opportunity, even within the male-dominated military.
Adding her comments, the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, highlighted that Owowoh's training and graduation signify the progress in female participation in the nation.
The Nigeria Defence Academy's Commandant, Maj. Gen O. J. Ochai, stated that Owowoh was the top candidate among the 200 cadets selected from the NDA.
He noted that the officer stood out in three key areas: academics, military disciplines, and physical fitness.
Owowoh was also awarded the esteemed Sandhurst Medal, joining the ranks of notable figures such as Sir Winston Churchill, Prince William of Wales, and former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
