2024 Hajj: NAHCON Transports 10,675 Pilgrims |
According to NAHCON’s Assistant Director for Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara, the pilgrims were flown by FlyNas with 4,665 pilgrims, followed by Max Air with 4,479, and Air Peace with 1,531 pilgrims.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) reports that it has successfully transported 10,675 Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj.
According to NAHCON’s Assistant Director for Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara, the pilgrims were flown by FlyNas with 4,665 pilgrims, followed by Max Air with 4,479, and Air Peace with 1,531 pilgrims.
Usara noted that there have been no flight cancellations, with the exception of a delay that shifted the Kwara inaugural flight from May 20th, 2024, to the early hours of May 21st.
She expressed pleasure that Nasarawa State has completed the airlift of its 1,794 pilgrims for this Hajj season, the first to do so. Oyo and the Armed forces are also on track to finish transporting their pilgrims tonight, with one flight remaining for each.
As the second week of inbound flights to Saudi Arabia begins, states preparing to start their pilgrim airlifts include Kaduna, Yobe, Kano, Adamawa, Borno, and Sokoto. Plateau State pilgrims are scheduled to depart today.
NAHCON advises pilgrims to remain patient and remember the First-in-First-Out (FIFO) policy for the return journey from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria. The commission has also resolved the initial issues with the issuance of Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) to pilgrims.
Now, each pilgrim will receive $500 in cash as BTA, as sanctioned by NAHCON, instead of a credit card.
