King Charles III to Resume Public Duties Next Week |
One of the king's first significant commitments will be to host a state visit from the emperor and empress of Japan in June.
After a three-month hiatus to focus on treatment and recovery, King Charles III is expected to resume his public duties next week. The British monarch was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer a few months ago and has been undergoing treatment. However, Buckingham Palace declared on Friday that the monarch will visit a cancer treatment center on Tuesday, marking the beginning of several public appearances in the coming weeks.

The palace did not provide an update on the king's treatment, but his medical team is "very encouraged" by the progress made thus far and remains optimistic about the king's ongoing recovery.
After his diagnosis was revealed on February 5, Charles maintained his state responsibilities, including reviewing government papers and convening with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
"As the coronation's first anniversary approaches, their majesties are deeply thankful for the numerous kindnesses and good wishes they have received from across the world during the last year's joys and difficulties," the palace stated in a statement
Charles' return will alleviate strain on other royal family members after the king's absence, along with that of the Princess of Wales, who is also unwell, highlighted the difficulties of a streamlined monarchy.
