EFCC Grills Ex-Minister Sadiya Umar-Farouq Over Alleged N37Billion Scam

Sadiya Umar-Farouq, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, has reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for questioning.

The ex-minister announced on Monday morning on her X handle that she had shown up at the Abuja office of the anti-corruption agency to respond to its invitation.

“I have, on my own accord, arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to honour the invitation by the anti-graft agency to provide explanations on some matters that the commission is probing,” she said.

Umar-Farouq had previously snubbed an invitation by the agency but wrote to request for more time.

Last week, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said that the ex-minister sent a letter to the EFCC stating that she could not honour the invitation because she was unwell.
