The Kano State Government has announced the date for the mass wedding of widows (Auren Gata) 

The Kano State Government will hold a mass wedding ceremony for widows on Friday, October 13, 2023. The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Kano Government House on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

The Hisba Commission has completed the health examination of the prospective brides and grooms from the 44 local governments of the state. However, some people will not be included in the list of the couples, as the test revealed that they have some health issues such as liver cancer, HIV/AIDS, and pregnancy. The government will provide treatment for 40 people who have liver cancer. The others will be excluded from the wedding program.
