Dr Bello Maitama Yusuf, Sardaun Dutse and former minister, has passed away

The prominent businessman and politician succumbed to an illness.

Maitama Yusuf served as the Minister of Internal Affairs in 1978 and then as the Minister of Commerce in 1982.

He was also a senator representing Jigawa South West from 1999 to 2007. He was initially a member of the ANPP party before joining the PDP party.

He contested for the governorship of Jigawa state in 2007.

Arewa Radio reported that one of the relatives of the late Alhaji Abdullahi Bello confirmed that Bello's funeral would take place at the palace of His Highness the Emir of Kano after Friday Prayers today.

Bello Maitama is survived by two wives and fifteen children: five sons and ten daughters.
